Birthday Celebration: Chicago Weekend Getaway

Chicago Getaway: A very special birthday celebrations with my in-laws.

Sweet Hello Everyone :)

First post of the month and couldn't be more happier and excited. Indeed, I missed blogging and missed you all dearly. I was just little busy in past few weeks (I think its a good excuse to have.. wink:) Since, I started this blog (5 years ago) I always do a blog post about my birthday celebration and this year is no exception. It's better late than never right? As you may remembered my birthday celebration last year. Get that excitement coming!! because I'm taking you with me and together we are going to unfold fun birthday celebration with family plus unforgettable Chicago trip with my in-laws.Grab your favorite drink and lets make a toss for awesome birthday 2017 and for memorable experience.

I feel so grateful and super lucky to have such a wonderful family who spoiled me not only on my birthday but everyday. It just felt amazing that my hubby and kids took me to Red Velvet Cafe for the first time. I ordered 4 cupcakes and Mango Bubble Tea for drink. It was so good!

Then, we head out to Bonifacio (Modern Filipino Restaurant) for scrumptious dinner experience. I ordered my ultimate favorite Filipino dish which is Lechon Kawali.. It was so tasty! I really feel like I'm home. Other food that my family ordered were Lumpia Shanghai, Spaghetti and Fried Chicken and Sisig Taco for hubby. Overall food experience at Bonifacio was amazing!

Aside from delicious Lechon Kawali that I ordered. I also got very refreshing drink which I totally forgot the name, kinda taste like lemonade level up because of alcohol content (wink).  Lastly, how about Special Halo-Halo for dessert? Can we all scream!!!! for Halo-Halo? I'm just super excited to have Halo-Halo again. Its been almost two years since the last time I had one,and it was back on our 2015 Outerbanks, NC trip It was indeed such a sweet birthday treat for me. 

.. That's not ALL... Let me welcome you to our Girls Weekend Birthday Getaway at Chicago.....

You heard it right! I'm taking you to Chicago where we celebrated our birthday's together with my beloved in-laws. We flew and stayed at Luxurious Waldorf Astoria, Chicago. The place was amazing, relaxing, and fancy. Then, we head out for dinner at Tavern on Rush. The food was so good and the serving was huge. It was really fun night!

We started early the next day for our Spa & Massage Appointment which is located in the hotel. It was best ever experience! Spa + Sauna = Relaxation.

After a very relaxing experience at Spa, we head out to explore Chicago at its BEST. We eat brunch and stroll around. It was so FUN! The people, the surroundings, noises, the big buildings. 

We, then head out for authentic Italian dinner experience at Volare Ristorante Italiano. I was really good! As you may remembered my Instagram post of the food that I ordered I'm such a huge seafood lover.  Can you tell? wink   

Time goes fast when your having fun and it was our last day at Chicago. But, before we head home we explore the place to the fullest. We hit the bridge that overlooked the big buildings of Chicago and it was beautiful. We walked, took a lot of pictures, and subway experience. Indeed, unforgettable birthday experience. I can sit on the couch and talked about our Chicago trip all day..and forever (hahaha) But, it's about time to take my kids to school. Just imagine all these goodies in one awesome box. How fantastic right? I know for sure its going to be fun review. So, grab your favorite drink and lets chat. Started off with this delicious snack that you and your family with love.

If I have to make a list of my top favorite snack food, chip is one of my top 3 favorite food to snack on. So, when Daily Goodie Box sent me this  Protes - Tangy Southern BBQ Chips I was super excited. This is my first time trying out the product and I must say that its flavorful, crunchy, and so good. The flavor of spicy chili lime is not overpowering, it actually compliments each other and that makes every bite unforgettable. This Protes protien chips is simply delicious!

Can't get enough of delicious and healthy snacks? Lets try Multi-Grain Crackers Sea Salt- Its certified gluten free, cholesterol free and made of 100% whole grain. Aside from being awesome crackers, it also taste so good. Little hint of salt just makes it perfect! I highly recommend this product to everyone!

One more snack food on the list that is so exciting is this Bits'y Brainfood - Orange Chocolate Beet Smart Cookies - this smart cookies are so good. My kids had so much fun eating this cookie, they are made with real organic beets, whole grain and packed with nutrition. As a parent, this cookie is not only delicious but so also packed with great ingredients. I highly recommend this product to everyone.

Indeed the three products that I mentioned above are absolutely scrumptious. Moving on to one of my favorite introducing  Darrell Lea - Strawberry Flavor Liquorice- the packaging of the product is really attractive. Upon opening the package I smell the fresh strawberry flavor. This is really the BEST liquorice for me. Packed with flavor, soft, not to sweet and perfect size. It is now my family's favorite sweet treat. SO good!:)

Sweetness overload! The next on the list is Quest Nutrition - Cinnamon Cereal Protein Bar is where the real taste of cinnamon roll in a cereal protien bar. Have I told you that this Quest bar is sooo goood? I can see myself eating this bar everyday. Its sweet, have a combination of crunch and chewy but overall its divine. This is perfect bar for me, its really scrumptious. Yum! 

As you may remembered from last blog post about Älsa - Energy Drink Mix-  I'm so glad that I'm able to sample all three flavors again.  Its the newest and healthy energy mix that you surely want to try. Its really good and refreshing. Perfect energy for me.

This is my first time trying out  The Chia Co - Chia Shots 10 Pack I'm so glad that Daily Goodie Box include this product in the sample box. Chia seeds is rich in omega 3, fiber, protein, vitamins and minerals. Its recommended to use one tablespoon of Chia, every day. Sprinkle onto your cereals, salads, smoothies, or add to your baking.

So what is DudeProducts - Quick DUDE Shower Wipes? This is basically gives you a fast and effective way to remove DUDE stank and stay fresh on-the-go (awesome right?) I think my hubby will love this. Super easy to use and convenient wipes on the-go. Love this!

Lets move on to SmartyPants - Adult Probiotic Complete perfect probiotic gummy for myself and for my hubby. It comes with two delicious flavor options ( blueberry and lemon creme ) Both are vegetarian, and contain no synthetic colors and no artificial flavors, sweeteners, preservatives, and any other junk. Isn't it perfect? I think so too.:)

Last product inside the box is this amazing Natralia - Anti-itch Soothing Cream - this is my second time I trying out this product and I'm so in-love with it. Its really good anti-itch soothing cream. I highly recommend this product to everyone.

Grab your favorite drink and lets talk about these wonderful products! :) Let start with this delicious and healthy Among Friends - Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix - I made this cookies yesterday and it was so good that I can't help myself but to grab more, more, and more (wink) My family fall-in love in just one bite! Its hand-crafted baking mix, made with whole grain, its gluten free, no gums or fillers. Its absolutely healthy and great cookie for the whole family. I highly recommend this product to everyone.

 

 Next on the list is my newest favorite Gertrude Hawk - Milk Chocolate Crispy Bar  Its creamy milk chocolate packed with crunchy crisped rice.  It is SO GOOD! A perfect balance of chocolate flavor and great texture. Overall experience was amazing and indeed sweet indulgence. Great chocolate! 

If your looking for tasty snack try this Crunchmaster - Multi Crackers I have to say that this product is AWESOME! Its crunchy, full of flavor, 100% whole grain, cholesterol free, gluten free and its PERFECT. I definitely love this product- not only it taste good. It is also good snack for the whole family. Yumm!

It packed of flavor and actually have great texture that I really like. I highly recommend this product to everyone. Indeed super healthy snack for the whole family.

Daily Goodie Box is just so wonderful that they included this Earth Science- 145 Night Renewal Facial Lotion  its night renewal facial lotion for men, which my hubby are so excited to try. It contains fruit acid to help slough off old tired-looking skin and stimulate skin renewal. Its non-greasy and contains all natural cedar mint fragrance. Its an awesome product!:)

it features a sheer and lightweight formula to protect your skin from the cumulative effects of sun exposure. Its perfect with or without make-up. I totally love this product!

I'm super excited to try this  BWC - Travel Size Hand and Body Lotion  It simply fantastic. It keep my hands, arms, and legs super feeling soft and smooth. Its non-greasy, fragrance-free and it works amazing. Perfect lotion for everyday use not only for myself but for my whole family.

Let's start with  Justin’s - Honey Peanut Butter + Banana Chips - just think about your favorite Justin's honey peanut butter and + Banana Chips in one perfect convenient snack pack. I have to say, this product was DELICIOUS and simply perfect. A must-have item for sure!

Van Holten's - Pickle-Ice  is next on the list. This is my first time trying out this product, and I have to say it taste like pickle brine with electrolytes added. Its perfect refreshing treat on hot day. Definitely will buy more of this product.

To all coffee lovers out-there; include myself this Nootrobox - Chewable Coffee Cubes is PERFECT! Go Cubes combine the kick of the coffee with the relaxation of green tea. So, instead of putting your coffee in a cup, you can put it in your pocket, for performance on the GO.

1 Cube is equal to 1/2 cup coffee. I think this product is just awesome. Let me know what you think?

 Next time you want to try different drink. Try Q Drinks - Q Ginger Beer    Spectacular Ginger Beer. Its taste Sharp Ginger Bite and Not Too Sweet. Totally different from what I normally drink. Indeed its exciting and fun experience.

How about  JJ’s Sweets - Cocomels Coconut Milk Caramels experience. This is something that you won't want to missed. I loved this product! It has all the flavor combination that I love! Its delicious, decadent, smooth, and mouth watering treat for the whole family. My newest favorite!

Let's move to my new favorite snack, introducing  Beanitos - Black Bean Chips

so simple yet very satisfying snack for the whole family. So many great flavors to choose from and I can't wait to try all Beanitos chips. Loved it!

Gutsy Products - Chewy Citrus Flavor It promote oral and digestive health with a proprietary blends of nature's remedies. Use it to help eliminate that queasy, uneasy, refluxy feeling with GutBurn and GutBloat after eating. This product is always come in handy for sure. A nice size to just stick in your purse and carry on the-go.

Next product is Hampton Creek - Just Mayo my ultimate favorite! Mayo is always part of our meal and house staple. This product is beyond fantastic. It taste great and makes everything delicious. Yum!

I must say that great snack always comes with wonderful ingredients just like  Navitas Naturals - Hemp Peanut Bar and Navitas Naturals - Cacao Cranberry Bar loaded with Natural Superfood made with only certified organic ingredients, plant-based and minimally processed ingredients. Delicious and very nutritious snack.

The last item in my Daily Goodie Box is Natralia - Anti-itch Soothing Cream this is great product to have for sure. I will do further review on Natralia- Anti-itch Soothing Cream on my other blog very soon. It something that you don't wanna missed. :)

Jungle Jim Escapade

Jungle Jim's Escapade

I been hearing good reviews online and offline friends who also have an awesome experience about Jungle Jims International Market located at Cincinnati, Ohio. It's like 2 hours drive from where I am. I'm wondering what it feels to shopped at this store and finally for over 5 years, I was able to experience it myself. The driving part is fun! I was able to explore some views in Ohio and that excitement and curiosity is fueled me for the whole 2 hours drove. 

This is super late post! I shopped at Jungle Jims International last December of 2013 (oops! I told you its late). I totally forgot about it until stumble upon some photos saved on my blog. I think this is the prefect time to share my experienced, which is by the way so AWESOME! We went in there round Christmas week and the whole place is packed its not a surprise when holiday season is right on your toe, people are rushed for their last minute shopping other than that they have a very wide, wide varieties of food from different places. I would not expect finding my favorite fruit in the store and its really surprising. Some of my friends were so lucky find some rambutan which is so rare here. We'll be back soon to explore the new Jungle Jims, for meantime come on join me as I explore the Jungle Jims International Market!

I found a lot of Filipino food that I love and it just felt like I'm shopping in the Philippines. They also have a wide varieties, I'm talking about really wide collections from wines, cheeses, olives,bake goods, beers- (got hubby's san miguel beer )  and much much more. It is also categories by country for easy find. I can explore the whole place for hours...:

EXPLORE:

I came in for one reason.. SHOP! and EXPLORE! 

I'm very please for everything from the seafood varieties they offer fresh seafood like fresh shrimp, live lobster, fishes and much much more. Didn't get any because of the travel time and afraid that it might be as fresh after 2 hours in the car.

I spend most of time exploring Dry goods where I got all my stuff is from Mango juice, curly tops and all my favorite late night snacks like chippy, moby, piatos, soy sauce, vinegar, canned goods and much more! YUM!

International Market- ( Fruits and Vegetables ) This pretty cool for me! I've seen fruit and vegetables that I can't find somewhere else.. Exotic fruits like Durian and Jackfruit ( Langka )
I only bought the Jackfruit because its look so good and this is one of my favorite fruit. It's little pricey for tiny sliced but its all worth,  Its like being in Pinas without moving an inch. I ate one or two peices in one day to prolonged that moment hehehe.
- Very good experience and planning to go back and explore the new store! Can't wait!- Did you feel the excitement? cause I'm smiling right now:)
